Age 61, unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, of Brentwood formerly of Hickory, PA. In the blink of an eye, my life is forever changed. My beloved husband of 30 years, Scott, left this life on June 15, 2021 for an eternity in heaven. Thomas Scott Smith was born on May 17, 1960 to Cecelia Wagamen (nee Blank) and the late Thomas Roosevelt Smith. He is the older brother of Daniel Smith of San Antonio, Texas. Scott was passionate about his wife, his dogs, anything military, shooting and archery, in that order. He was a 1978 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, participating in track and field. Following his studies at the University of Pittsburgh, Scott entered the United States Air Force for 2 years and then the United States Army for 3 years. Scott competed in IDPA and USPSA shooting competitions and the annual SHOT show. Those in the shooting industry will miss him dearly. Scott was generous to a fault, willing to give the shirt off his back to someone in need or to lend a helping hand. Scott worked as a postal carrier in Washington, PA for many years. He also worked at the Veteran's Hospital as a Federal Police Officer, of which he was very proud. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Helen Hughes-Smith of Brentwood, his mother Cecelia Wagaman (Tim) of Valdosta, GA, his brother Dan, his beloved dogs LuLu, CoCo, China, Schnitzel and Ziggy; nieces, nephews, and many friends from all walks of life. Scott will be laid to rest at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies surrounded by the men and women he most admired. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to honor Scott may make a donation to your local animal shelter or any veteran's organization. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. June 21, 2021 June 20, 2021 June 20, 2021 June 19, 2021 Contact Us to have your link and message added here.
