Age 77, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, April 23, 2026, of South Side.

Loving husband of Carolyn Gathers (Lampenfield); father of Angel Rose Gathers, Timothy (Kelly) Gathers, Marlaina Waligorski and Eric (Katie) Gathers; Pappy Buck of Ryan, Mariah, Brooklyn, Jacob, Reilly, Skylar and Remi; great-grandfather of Layne, Lincoln, Noah and Cameron; son of Patricia and the late Leonard Gathers; brother of Kathy Liberi, Leonard Gathers, Patricia Nee and Gary Gathers. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Timothy George Gathers was born on the 4th of July 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the age of 77, he passed away on April 23, 2026. He was married to the love of his life Carolyn Lampenfield Gathers, and he was devoted to his wife of 40 years. He was a Pittsburgh Pile Driver in heavy construction, and an underwater welder. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, camping, photography, flowers, and scuba diving, and he was a good cook. He was a native Southsider, and he was a special friend to many. He was known to his grandchildren as Pappy Buck, and his nieces and nephews as Uncle Buck. He had the courage to be exactly who he was in life, a good, strong man. This world will never be the same without him in it. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 3-7 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
