March 20, 1933 - October 16, 2015

Andrews, Violet D. "Vi", on Friday, October 16, 2015 of Brentwood. Beloved wife of William R. Andrews for over 63 years; loving mother of Diana (Donald Hurd) Fodor, William Andrews, Pam (Hilly) Rubinsky, Kathleen Andrews, and Debb Andrews; grandmother of Brigette, Robin, Nikki, Johnny, Mikey, Nicole, Megan, Val, Jay, Brandon, Josh, David, Cameron and Colin; great-grandma of Zoey, A.J., Wyatt, Kate, and Sonny; sister of Ruth Lugo and John (Beverly) Mueller. Vi was past Chairman of the Board of the Unity Church of Pittsburgh. She also spent a good portion of her time with the Citizens Community Action Committee of McKees Rocks. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. presided by her nephew, Albert Mueller. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.

    I was a musician for Unity Center of Pittsburgh starting in 1998 and I enjoyed Vi so much. Later she rejoined the board and became president and we worked closely with our mutual friend Karen Ciccone. I remember her fondly and look forward to meeting some more family Tuesday afternoon.
