Age 94, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 of Baldwin, formerly of South Side. Husband of the late Margaret Walkowiak; father of George (Kathleen) Walkowiak and Mary (Daniel Sr.) Watson; grandfather of Angela (Jeff) Ghelarducci, Daniel Jr., (Kelly) Watson, Andrea (Ethan) Lo, Melissa (John) Porter and Bradley (Liz) Walkowiak; brother of Raymond Walkowiak and the late Frances, Elizabeth and Edward. Also survived by many great-grandchildren. Walter was a WWII Veteran who served in the United States Navy Seabees. He worked for J&L Steel, 2nd Avenue until his retirement. During his retirement, he loved to spend time fishing. He was also a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Whitehall. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 2-8 pm. Military honors at 7:00 p.m. followed by a blessing service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral prayer on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. followed by interment at 10:00 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
