Obituary For Walter W. Giesy, Jr.

Age 95, on Sunday, April 24, 2022, of Baldwin.

Loving father of Karen Giesy (Douglas DePellegrini); son of the late Walter and Margaret; brother of the late Col. Lloyd (Charlotte) Giesy. Also survived by his three nephews and his adoring dog Dixie. Walter was a 46 year member of the Duquesne Country Club, an avid golfer, and a member of Pittsburgh's Syria Shriners. He was a Rolls Manager at U.S. Steel, retiring after 35 years. In recent afternoons, Walter could be found at the Loose Moose Saloon sharing his well versed, expertise on sports, politics and history. He spent his remaining two years at his daughter's residence in South Park enjoying family time with herself and Doug. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 1-3 p.m., where a funeral prayer service will be held at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Three Rivers Hospice, 300 Oxford Drive, Monroeville, PA 15146.

    I had the occasion to play golf with Doug & Walt way back in the 90's on a golf trip to Myrtle & a few times after, before my family moved to the Charlotte area. He was such a passionate individual, as well as a great sense of humor. Karen, please accept our condolences. The Girdis Family.
