Age 84, passed peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, of Blue Bell, PA, formerly of Whitehall. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite "Margie" (Salva) Lawrence; cherished father of Jeffrey (Rossana) Lawrence and Rebecca (Joseph) Bushner; loving grandfather of Mary (Dan) Martinez, John (Mackenzie) Bushner, Joseph Bushner and Thomas Bushner; son of the late William and Margaret Lawrence; brother of Robert Lawrence; brother-in-law of Sabra (George) Clark. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bill later moved with his family to Whitehall and graduated from Baldwin-Whitehall High School. He attended California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. It was there he met his wife, the late Marguerite “Margie” Salva. They shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together. Bill worked for Mellon/Citizens Bank for many years and was well known throughout the South Hills area. He also proudly served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged after six years. He was a member of the South Hills Jaycees and Rotary. Bill enjoyed fishing and golfing, and he and Margie especially liked traveling and attending theater performances and concerts. They were active members of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Parish. Bill’s favorite sport to watch was Steelers football, and he was a season ticket holder for many years. He first attended games with his father and later continued the tradition with his son, Jeff. After Margie’s passing, Bill moved to Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, to live with his daughter Becky and her family. As his Parkinson’s disease progressed, he later moved to Meadowood Senior Living in Lansdale, PA where he quickly made friends with his corny jokes, contagious laughter and kindness. Bill holds a special place in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, family and many friends. He will forever be remembered with love and joy. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:15.
