Obituary For William J. Slatosky

Age 91, passed peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021. Loving husband of 60 years to the late Marilyn M. (Brasington); father of Mary Ann (Jeff) Green and William R. (the late Cecelia); proud grandfather of Ryan Green, Billy (Kelly), Christopher, Meghann and Aimee Slatosky; great-grandfather of Adeline Slatosky; brother of Shirley (the late John) Amprim, John (Nancy) Slatosky and the late Ronald (the late Beverly) Slatosky. Born and raised in West Newton, he attended West Newton High School and graduated as valedictorian. While studying physics at Carnegie Tech, he was drafted during the Korean War to honorably serve as rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army counterintelligence. After completing his military service, he returned to Carnegie Tech to graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in physics. He then began work in the steel industry as an early pioneer installing process control computers, furthered his education in metallurgical engineering and continued his career as a consultant for the steel and chemical industries, as well as the tech industry-including IBM. Upon retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping busy with many activities such as painting, reading, playing trumpet and spending countless summer hours sunbathing and swimming laps at the local pool. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 a.m. Mask and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.

    Mary Ann and Billy and Families...I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear sweet ,kind father....I can still hear his trumpet wafting through the early evening air on Gensler Rd....Your mom and dad were very kind and welcoming and always watching out for us kids playing on the road or sled riding in the field....I can still see them gardening in your yard....and remember the sweet aroma of your Dad's pipe....Prayers to you and families.......Lynn (Klimo) Shallenberger
